When Bob was handing out taste buds and palates and the like, my Dad was curiously absent. Which makes dinner challenging when he comes to visit. It’s a question of balance. Something that Dad will eat and something that won’t make the rest of us actually die of palate induced ennui. That’s a real disease, I swear.

My latest concoction struck a reasonable balance. Only because I insist on using sausages with actual meat in them, not that lips and butt hole stuff. Shudder. So if you have a similar person to cook for, this one could work for you too. I should add it was a massive hit with the Ankle Biters. Sausage + pasta = Ankle Biter heaven.

Pasta and Sausage Bake
10 organic beef sausages
2 x 400g tinned tomatoes
250g cream cheese
400g spiral pasta
grated cheese to top
Squeeze chunks of sausage out of skins so you have a bowl of meatballs. Brown in frypan. Add tomatoes and cream cheese and stir until cream cheese is totally melted.
Meanwhile, cook pasta until al dente.
Combine sausage mixture and pasta in large oven proof casserole.
Scatter grated cheese on top.
Bake in a moderate oven for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can prepare in advance and bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes.

Dessert, just to make the man even happier was icecream with home made ice magic. I found the recipe on the Simple Savings forum and it was fabulous.

Ice Magic

1/4 cup combined rice bran oil and butter
100g block organic milk chocolate.
Gently melt and combine together.
