Stinking hot night. Tired. Poor meal planning. No proper shop done for the week. Cranky Ankle Biters. Thank goodness for tuna salad.
In our house its something that everyone loves. It’s a quick and easy way to get heaps of vegetables with a good protein punch into everyone (carbs too if served with bread or if [...]

I love Cup Day. There is nothing as ludicrous as a public holiday for a horse race and I love it. We totally dropped the ball on organising anything this year but fortunately we have friends who are just as slack. So an impromptu BBQ was planned at 8.30 this morning.

I had defrosted some wonderful [...]

Silverbeet and Cashew Loaf

Out there in the ether is a cook book. It’s name escapes me. It’s a vegetarian cook book. It’s appallingly laid out.  So much so that it is nearly impossible to browse. Not a photo or illustration to be seen and set out in columns. It does contain some gold if you have the stamina [...]

After the weekend’s birthday celebrations, one thing I did not feel like doing today was cooking. Rare but true. Even so, it’s only just occurred to me as I type this that take away is the common option for nights such as tonight. It’s just not something that occurs to me more than once in [...]

What more do you want? Snappy post titles?
Still battling the brain funk but desperately trying to move my way through the massive pile of assorted papers that accumulated during the computerless days. Really, it was less than a week. How could such a large pile with such a broad variety of tasks gather so quickly? [...]

Pasties from leftovers

Do you know what I love about not being typically Western in the way we eat meat? I love that 3 lonely lamb chops that didn’t get cooked at a barbecue the other day will easily make a meal for 4 of us.
I also have half a dish of leftover vegetable gratin and some large [...]

From time to time the day on which I do my supermarket shopping seems to change. I’m not really sure how or why it happens. It just does. Accept it. Currently it’s Monday. Which kind of sucks because I’m having trouble coming to grips with Mondays. It’s a mad flurry of drop Son and Heir [...]

Absolute serendipity once again. A beautifully harmonious blend of things left in the fridge. Made in the thermomix. Could be made almost as quickly using a food processor to chopa nd a saucepan to cook. Messier though. Love my thermomix.
Carrot, Chickpea and Ginger Soup
1 salad onion
1 shallot
3 cloves garlic
6 carrots, roughly chopped
1 1/2 cups chickpeas, [...]
