Father’s Day didn’t start so well here at Chez KP. First problem, was of course the absence of the Bread WInner. second problem was Son and Heir destroying my knitting at 5.30am. Which I didn’t discover until 6.30 when I decided to start yelling at the Ankle Biters whilst in the same room as them, […]

Conjunctivitis has confined us to quarters. I lost my tiny little mind last night and threatened the Ankle Biters with mutilation politely asked the Ankle Biters to clean up their mess. It’s too wet to garden. All in all we’re having a slow and lazy Sunday morning. Which is nice.
We’ve been on a pancake frenzy […]

I found some stewed apple and rhubarb lurking in the freezer, I had half a large punnet of strawberries in the fridge. I had 50g of organic dark chocolate in the pantry. Inspiration struck.
Rhubarb and Strawberry Chocolate Crumble

300g sliced strawberries

Son and Heir loves to cook with me. Best of all, he’s actually old and coordinated enough to be useful these days. He even has his own ‘kiddie kutter’, an Ankle Biter safe knife that he uses with great pride (check the ad on on the side if you’re interested). Lil Miss and the Bread […]
When Mr Meat and Three Veg visits

When Bob was handing out taste buds and palates and the like, my Dad was curiously absent. Which makes dinner challenging when he comes to visit. It’s a question of balance. Something that Dad will eat and something that won’t make the rest of us actually die of palate induced ennui. That’s a real disease, […]

The last couple of days have been hot, hot, hot in Melbourne. Which I love but no one else seems too jiggy with it. Having this sudden heat wave in March is, for me, a delicious reprieve from the cooler weather that surely approaches. I don’t do cold.
Yesterday was 42 degrees I believe, so hot […]
Chocolate Chilli Cinnamon & Raspberry Cake

I’m off to yum cha tomorrow for a friend’s birthday. I wanted to take her a little birthday treat and figured a small cake was somewhat apt. Only thing is, my house is rather devoid of sweet things right now as I still have two rogue Christmas kilos to banish from my nether region.
I did […]
Chocolate passionfruit cream pie disaster

It’s Saturday which means it’s dessert day. I have 4 leftover egg whites from dinner, 4 leftover egg whites and a small block of Green & Blacks milk chocolate. Hmmm…
OK, I found a recipe for Norwegian Troll Cream on Khymos. No berries in the freezer but I did find some passionfruit pulp. I figured I […]

I am in the process of cleaning out odds and ends of ideologically unsound food from the cupboard. Plus I made mayonnaise today. Which left me with 4 egg whites and 35g of Lindt 85% chocolate and heaps of caster sugar.
I adore Lindt chocolate and very much regretted having to put it […]
