Brazen has inspired me with her cook book challenge. So I’ve decided to do a similar thing. In the interests of variety, I am aiming to choose a cook book each week and make at least one thing from it. I will attempt to keep interested in this challenge until I have worked my way through my entire collection. Note I said ‘attempt’. This week is Women’s Weekly Dinner Party Cook Book No. 3. More to be revealed in my next post. I have a gazillion WW cookbooks inherited from my Mum. I’ll never part with them whether I use them or not. I’m a bit sentimental like that.

In the meantime I leave you with two pies.

A vegetable pie inspired by Secrets of the Beechworth Bakery. Basically a lot of diced veg mixed into mashed potato in a strong shortcrust pastry. Hearty and satisfying.

A silverbeet and olive tart with parmesan crust. Light and tasty. Best of all it uses tons of silverbeet. Great for using up the never ending glut.
