Delicious little morsels, perfect for finger food or piling into lunch boxes. Very bento friendly. Just in case you were wondering, the recent lack of photos is a gesture of disgust at the hideous lighting in my hideous house. Photography will resume when the house has been demolished. Which will happen soon should the universe [...]

Now that both First Born and Lil Miss are at school, I am working close to full time. Which means that I am making packed lunches for the whole family five days a week, no more nicking home at lunch time for a few crackers, cheese and tomato for me! The main problem with this [...]
Lately, Son and Heir greatly objects to staying home all day. He has this driving need for some form of outing every day. It’s a pain in the backside when I don’t want to go anywhere. Like today. All I wanted to do was clean the house and tend to some outdoor tasks that I [...]
Admittedly it wasn’t such a hit with the Ankle Biters this time but my friend Cath and I were mightily impressed. I roasted the pumpkin the day before when I was cooking dinner which made them really quick and easy to whip up too. Budget too, perfect! Pumpkin, Walnut and Feta Scrolls adapted from Super [...]
Have you seen Cold Comfort Farm? Or read it? If you haven’t you should. Read and see it, both versions are brilliant. No idea why fritters for lunch made me think of it but I must haul the DVD out for my regular viewing. Anyhoo, back to business. I whipped these little fritters up in [...]

Not only Lil Miss’ favourite saying but how I ate my lunch today. Son and Heir was at kinder, Lil Miss got sent to creche and I had the morning off work due to the whole sharks and laser beams thing. So I got to eat in peace. Bliss I tells ya! Pita bread with [...]
Which is always a pain when you’ve been at a picnic all day and you’re tired and have cut lunches to make. A few minutes staring slack jawed into the pantry provided a decent solution. Lucky the Lil Miss isn’t fussy though. I did run out of the avocado and crab mixture so she got [...]
OK, this sandwich is very, very naughty but incredibly delicious. Crispy fried free range bacon and creamy blue cheese. My rear end is expanding just making one for the Bread Winner’s lunch. Lucky I don’t have enough bacon left to actually eat one.
I vaguely remember doing something similar to this last summer and really enjoying it. So I recreated as best I could remember. It’s a lovely summer meal served with a salad and leftovers are perfect for lunch boxes. Tuna & Cream Cheese Rolls. 485g tin tuna in springwater 250g block cream cheese 1/2 red onion, [...]
