I made a baked risotto with pumpkin, cauliflower and fennel the other night. I found the leftovers this morning. Which was fortunate because I needed to leave lunch for Lil Miss and the Bread Winner. Son and Heir and I were off to a birthday party.
Press mounds of risotto firmly in to a greased muffin [...]

Do you know what I love about not being typically Western in the way we eat meat? I love that 3 lonely lamb chops that didn’t get cooked at a barbecue the other day will easily make a meal for 4 of us.
I also have half a dish of leftover vegetable gratin and some large [...]

From time to time the day on which I do my supermarket shopping seems to change. I’m not really sure how or why it happens. It just does. Accept it. Currently it’s Monday. Which kind of sucks because I’m having trouble coming to grips with Mondays. It’s a mad flurry of drop Son and Heir [...]

I had to do a small shopping top up last night, I bought more bread, eggs, rocket and a massive bunch of coriander. Most of which is already gone. I’m going to have to hit the supermarket again in the next day or so.
Meal [...]

I cooked a lovely roast chook the other night and padded it out with lots of salad and baked potato. It was a great big one so I intended to leave myself enough leftovers for a couple of meals. I can justify paying around the $20 mark for an organic chook if I can get [...]

The beauty of dividing up Christmas cooking is the dividing up of leftovers. Which in our case this year means some salads and that is it. Well there was a sliver of pavlova left but I bequeathed that to my brother. Better it go on his butt than mine.
So here we are, lunchtime Boxing Day [...]

The pantry raid (phew, lucky I didn’t leave that ‘r’ out), continues tonight with a recipe I’ve been meaning to try for ages plus a sauce cobbled together out of leftovers.
I generally do my supermarket shopping at a wonderful IGA, Leo’s. Apart from not belonging to Coles or Woolworths which is a major plus in [...]
