Sustainable bunting
Jan 17th, 2009 by Dani
Despite having a delicious, simple, budget friendly meal last night, I did not manage to blog. Instead, I accomplished something that has been lurking on my project list for quite some time. I made bunting, just in time for Lil Miss’ teddy bear’s picnic.
I came across the idea somewhere internety many moons ago and thought it would be a brilliant way to use up those scraps of fabric that I can’t bear to discard. Besides, the disposable style birthday bunting purchased five years ago and used at every birthday celebration in that time is well and truly on its last legs. It was a bunting emergency.
The most time intensive part of the job was sorting through my fabric scraps and cutting. Then it was just a matter of zigzagging the edges and attaching to a long length of ribbon which I picked up at an op shop for 50c years ago and have never been able to find a use for.

More on the teddy bear’s picnic tomorrow when I am a little less exhausted.

That bunting looks wonderful! It’s something I’ve been meaning to do something like that for ages. It’s such a lovely, simple and effective way of decorating.

Docwitch I think my favourite thing about it is that each individual flag has a little memory for me, Son and Heir’s quilt, Lil Miss’s sundress and so on and so forth.
Hi Em! What a glorious bump you are sporting now. You’ll be preparing for that first birthday before you know it.
