Ohh, interesting. Less lost property sounds good to me, can't argue with that. Nuts are banned but there are plenty of other allergens so I guess that makes sense. Thank Rom.

At least at the 3 local primary schools it's eat then play. They aren't allowed to take food out of the classroom. 1. For potential hazard it might cause to kids with allergies (think peanut butter sandwiches smirred all over the play equipment). 2. potential for lost lunchboxes and mess. Good thing S&H eats quickly.
I almost alway shave a plate of fruit or raw veg waiting for B when he gets home. It's gone in 2 seconds flat.

I'm organised this week because I know that chaos will hit next week Fig. This week, in fact yesterday given the weather, is my only chance to create some semblance of calm and organisation before the craziness starts.

I don't have lunch ideas for you, just admiration and exhaustion-by-proxy that you are so organized.

Figs last blog post..<a href="http://dizzlefig.blogspot.com/2009/01/adj-pleasing-or-attractive-to-eye.html" rel="nofollow">Adj.: pleasing or attractive to the eye</a>

Interesting tip Rom. So does this mean they have to eat quickly and then play? Or is there no play attached to lunchtime any more? I guess I'll find out next week! Fortunately, Son and Heir could eat a side of roast elephant in 10 - 15 minutes. Lil Miss is a little slower. She's got a couple of years to practice though.
Son and Heir has already started placing orders for after school snacks LOL.

Make their lunches something they can eat fast. Most schools only give then 10 or 15 minutes to eat before the bell goes. This time gets fudged a bit if the morning activities are running long. So if the can't eat it quickly it'll get left. Also, always haveing something on hand for them to eat when they get home. Or make them finish their unfinished lunch. Every kid I know is starving when they get home.

Em well organised is my form of sanity. I'm ever so slightly obsessive compulsive and without copious lists and being organised well ahead of time I go into meltdown. I was actually going to split my lists into seasons but I thought that was possibly a little over the top. Seasonality is implied by the food we have in the house ayway. The downside is I stay up far too late, get up to early and generally get a bit ratty around the edges trying to keep up.
What corn are you planting? I've got red Aztec in. Never grown this variety before, I'm dying to eat some and see what its like.

Dani, hon, you are *so* well organised! I haven't quite finished ticking off the booklists yet, and we go back on Tues. Still to label and wash some new uniforms, but we have enough to last several days. I've been planting corn and celery instead, and freezing passata.

I wish I could offer you some school lunch thoughts, but you've got us covered - great ideas on your list! Generally we go with whatever is seasonal, and easy to eat in the lunch break scramble - I've found that T dislikes anything that might spill whilst eating (v self conscious), so that has reduced a lot of food we'd otherwise eat.

Ems last blog post..<a href="http://danceofsmallthings.blogspot.com/2009/01/beetroot-tzatziki-and-food-book.html" rel="nofollow">Beetroot Tzatziki and a food book</a>
