Winter delights

Frankly, I’m a summer girl. Cold totally sucks in my opinion. Unless you’re doing something productive with it like skiing and our budget never stretches that far. Pretty much the only things that excite me about winter are food related. Sad but true. Comfort food is all about cold weather.
One of my favourites has come into season…blood oranges. I didn’t buy enough this week and I’ve already scoffed them all but I intend to get more at the next farmer’s market and freeze some chunks for that ol’ thermomix favourite…fruity delight. Not exactly a winter dessert but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
So what is your favourite winter crop from your neck of the woods?

Blood oranges are something else aren’t they? The name alone is delish. Both seductive and comforting. I’m also very fond of passionfruit and kiwifruit.
Although I don’t mind winter, I’m beginning to really hang out for Spring and all those lovely fresh greens.
