Absolutely Docwitch. A friend of mine is a coeliac and she makes the most divine pastry using a combination of rice and besan flour. She often uses it for tarts and quiches so I'm sure it would be fine for pie top. I'm pretty sure she uses 50/50 of the 2 flours.

That looks really scrummy. You're giving me loads of ideas at the moment for revving up my repertoire. This will be a weekend meal. Just a question though: I haven't yet made a pie crust with gluten free flour. Do you know whether this would work? So far, the gluten free flour has behaved admirably well with baking, but I haven't tried doing pastry yet.

Wow! Only a couple of mine were that small. Most were a little smaller than golf ball. I didn't bother peeling them but then I never do for little steamed taties.
The mushies went knowing they were appreciated at least.

The potatoes don't look that small. We bought some at Pyrmont market that were about the size of large peas. My chef friend asked how did we peel them?
Feel sorry for those poor mushies, they may have been lonely, but now they are gone. Gone for the better good tho'.
