Today I wrote an angry letter
Sep 14th, 2008 by Dani
The Ankle Biters and I stoped at Westfield Doncaster today to pick up supplies for an impromptu picnic at the park. At the deli counter of Colonial Fresh Markets, we got a conainer of ‘pastelli’, a sesame seed slice. I read the label before purchasing (as I do) and the listed ingredients were sesame, honey, sultana and peel. That seemed to me about as good as purchased slice was going to get.
Sometime after the Ankle Biters had ingested some of said sliced, I had a piece myself and noticed that it was riddled with peanuts! I am absolutely horrified at the irresponsible labelling of such a dangerous ingredient. Fotunately, neither of my Ankle Biters have nut allergies and both are accustomed to eating nuts. Had I not tried a piece and noticed, I woud have packed a piece each into their lunches for tomorrow. Both the creche and kinder have nut free policies and allergic children in attendance.
I will be waiting with bated breath to see what, if any response I receive from Colonial Fresh Markets. Hopefully, a change to their labelling will happen before a serious incident occurs.

Bloody Hell Dani, that’s so irresponsible. Hopefully they lift their game and realise how serious an error they’ve made.

Whoa! That really is alarming, and potentially catastrophic. Good on you for writing to them. Hope they pull their socks up.

Isn’t it scary? I’m just flabbergasted that someone could be so irresponsible.
