Ratbag. Very cute ratbag. the devastation they wreak is not so cute. I have lost many a basil plant to these fellows. What do you do to deter them? Have you tried beer traps?
Docwitchs last blog post..Springtime in the World of Etsy
I have tried beer traps but I keep finding the bread winner slumped over the lettuce.
Whenever I find one I toss it in the street in front of our house. They become “es-car-go”. I figure if they aren’t fast enough to dodge a car, that’s natural selection at work.

I like your reasoning Nate! Most of mine end up next door. I dream of them acting as a natural lawn mower. Garden maintenance isn’t one of our neighbour’s things.
Ducks…would solve the problem. Alternatively, lightly poached with garlic butter, herbs and your spelt bread?? Beautiful site btw, I’m going to enjoy eking out recipes to try!
Howling Duck Ranchs last blog post..Where we are…
Welcome HDR! I am very glad Stonehead introduced your blog, you are a happy addition to my daily reading. I would love a duck or two. Sadly I can’t even talk the Bread Winner around to chooks (yet). I’d happily cook then but I suspect the family would rebel.
