Pioneer Woman Update: UPDATED
Aug 30th, 2008 by Dani
The Pioneer Woman has been madly cooking the finalist recipes for her dairy competition. I have some mighty stiff competition. Mighty stiff.
My savoury bread and butter pudding. Which is of course awesome. Which is why we eat it so often.
Cheese Muffins by Fig. I need to make these. Probably with garlic soup. UPDATE: They are superb with garlic soup. A batch of these didn’t last long, even with the Bread Winner away.
Blueberry muffins by Ellen. Blueberries, yoghurt, muffiny goodness. What can go wrong?
Black Bean Chowder with yoghurt-coriander relish by Liz. I need this before spring makes a proper appearance. Black beans, yoghurt and coriander (cilantro) has to be a winning combination.
The final recipe, by Kate Allison is Indian grilled chicken marinated in milk and yoghurt. Mmm, Indian. Love Indian.
How on earth PW is going to decide this one is beyond me. So much yummy food and so varied. Gotta say though, there’s some fierce commenters over there. Sheesh! Glad I’ve got a thick skin and I hope the other finalists do too.
Comment of the day (made about my recipe):
Something about this REEEEEEAAAALLY makes me want to blow chunks. Just nooooooo!

Did I say before how impressed I am, and how you so deserve to be there in the finalists Dani? Congrats again lovely! Thanks for posting the other finalists - that bean chowder does sound yum
I wish you lived down the road. We could supply you with organic produce and you could feed us deliciousness

I’ve been reading her every day since the finalists were announced to see her make yours. They are all very good! I love yours though as it is very versatile. Good luck Dani!!!

Thanks Em. I wish I did too! Reminds me I must email you and pick you clever gardening brain : )
Thanks Trace : )
It’s a stiff competition that’s for sure, I’m betting on the black bean chowder at this stage. Having said that we’re having the cheese scones with garlic soup for dinner tonight.
I have everything firmly crossed that she’ll see what a bloody legendary cook you are!

Hi Dani - I’ve been reading your site ever since the dairy finalists were announced, and I love it! I intend to try many of your recipes, including your savory bread pudding.
Thanks for kind words!
Figs last blog post..Score cake
Hi Fig, good to see you! I’ve been having a read of your blog too, lots of fun! Thanks for saying Hi
Okay, totally agreed about comments. I’ve gotten so fed up with it that I blogged about it - I like to think I have a thick skin, but it still drives me crazy to see people rip on us and each other and PW and anyone else online. Especially PW, because it’s so amazing of her to put so much time and effort into her website and share her life with us . . . and then people say rude and stupid things. The American word for such folks is “douchebag” - what do you Aussies call them?
Figs last blog post..This is how you Internet
I’m glad it’s not just me Fig! Douchebag gets used over here too. Wanker is probably more common. Or many other names not quite so family friendly ; P
lmao Dani…yes I can think of a few not quite family friendly names too! They’re getting particularly narky over the last recipe! Ok, so there may have been a bit of excess in the quantities used in the marinade but if the milk works the milk WORKS people!!! Sheesh. I’ve seen similar recipes out there that call for milk as a marinade. What I can’t get over is that this is HER competition she is doing of her own accord. She decided on the finalists. She rationalised it and they’re jumping down her throat for making those decisions!!! Instead of taking the polite option and saying the dish wouldn’t be for them.
It’s crazy isn’t it? If I see a recipe on a blog I read that’s not my cup of tea, I just don’t comment. What’s so hard about that? Why oh why would you waste your time reading someone’s blog if you think so poorly of it? Oh well, I guess with a readership as big as PW’s attracting the internet crazy contingent is somewhat inevitable. And boy that anonymous gets around doesn’t s/he?
