Birthday bliss

Standing in the vegetable patch. Steady gentle rain, soaked to the skin. Picking one perfect strawberry and eating it where I stood. Utter bliss.
A family outing to the farmer’s market at Collingwood Children’s Farm. The Bread Winner even came. He’s never done that before. I expected him to be impatient and resentful of the rain. Au contraire. He enjoyed it. He dawdled. He embraced the rain. He even enjoyed watching the Ankle Biters covering themselves with filth, jumping in puddles. He helped strip them off at the car with aplomb. Happy days indeed.
And another insignificant number passes by.
