A return to life and to wheat
Nov 29th, 2008 by Dani
Today is a wonderful day. My week without wheat has come to an end. Even better, the rotten virus that featured for most of the week has also finally departed. The virus infected me, not the computer but has been the cause of my uncharacteristic absence from blogging. Most vexatious.
Things I noticed when not eating wheat. Weight falls off at an alarming rate. Add a virus to that and watch those kilos fly away. Apart from that, I really didn’t notice any change. I suppose that makes me gluten tolerant. I didn’t find breakfast or dinner particularly difficult to cater to as they are not meals at which I ordinarily consume wheat but lunch was a challenge. A challenge I managed to avoid for a few days by being too ill to eat. I think I need to try this again sometime without the viral interlude.
I celebrated the return of wheat and good health today in spectacular fashion. With a hot jam donut from a market caravan. Nothing that unwholesome should taste so good.

Welcome bakc, and I’m sorry to hear you’ve been ill. I did wonder if the lack of blogging was down to something like that. Hope you’re feeling much better now. It would have been particularly challenging to go without a dietary staple in the middle of that.
Although I’m used to not having certain grains in my diet now, I still dream about sourdough. I can well imagine how good that donut tasted!

oops - typo ‘bakc’ - looks spookily like ‘bake’ which is my unconscious being completely appropriate for once.

Thanks Docwitch. The upside to the sick thing was that I couldn’t bear the thought of eating anything. Even wheat.
I’d dream about sourdough too if I had to go without.
